This morning, I needed a notebook I’d left upstairs. On the way, I passed the table in the front entry. A vase of daffodils would be lovely here. But first I should dust the table. Found the dust cloth and spray. Done. (Five minutes)
I’ll need a vase. I went to the dining room buffet and found a purple one. Ooh, I forgot I had this blue one. Two vases—one blue, one purple, for daffodils. Hurry now, while they are at their peak. Lovely, lovely.
Daffodils stand better with glass beads in the vases. Where are those? Oh, yes, in that drawer. Or was it that one? I found the beads and put some in each vase, then water on top of the beads. (Seven minutes)
Now scissors to cut the daffodils. Scissors? No idea where the garden shears are. Kitchen shears will do nicely. Out to the flower bed, with the purple vase of water. Snip, snip, snip. So satisfying. Cool air, birds chirping, sun shining. Ahhh. (Eight minutes. Okay, maybe ten. Or twelve. No more than that, I’m sorta sure.)
I filled the vase with daffodils, brought it inside, divided the flowers betwixt the vases, and set one on the entry table, the other on the kitchen counter. Ahhh. Lovely, lovely, lovely. (Five minutes)
Half an hour later, What was I looking for? Oh yeah. That notebook. I went upstairs and got it. As I came back down, I looked at the vase on the entry table. Beautiful white and yellow blossoms bursting from the purple vase. Again in the kitchen, bursting from the blue.
A distraction of daffodils. Perfectly delightful on this spring morning.

Book update: Mackenzie Prentice #5 OLD HABITS is in the revise-and-polish stage. Grinding away, day by day—and loving it! I’ll keep you posted!
Beautiful imagery here, Mary! I could see all that happened and follow alongside you. The darting rabbit trail of thoughts and tasks blooming from an idea really feels relatable too 😅
Loverly, Mary 💛🤍💚 have a colorful and peaceful day,. Geraldine
