I want to be home
In the cozy comfort of jeans and sweatshirt
Morning campfire, coffee, and you.
Our quiet companionship and earthy conversations.
How the hostas need mulching.
How the dead nettle trails from the coleus in the whiskey barrel planter.
I want the simple satisfaction of dirt under my nails.
The dog scuffles through underbrush for the tossed ball.
Bringing it back, panting delight,
She makes you laugh.
I want to be home.

I always wanted to be home when I was at work, too. Your poem perfectly captures the comfort and delight of home. 😊
Yes as I age and am alone, my home is my sanctuary
